Seventy-one years of quiet work

our History

1955

Ivan Gartshore starts Tyre Services Australia on Ipswich Road, Moorooka. His three sons join him in the business over the years that follow.

1974

Business expands into 4WD market with Big Country Equipment, including manufacturing, importing, wholesaling and retail outlets.

1989

DAKL is first created.

1990

Peter starts Big Country Buildings with his brother, working on commercial and industrial projects.

1999

Big Country Buildings builds its own headquarters at Murarrie, with three generations of the family working on the site. It is still our office today.

2006

Big Country Buildings becomes idec Solutions. DAKL takes full ownership.

2020

The construction business turns thirty. Peter's sons take on active roles across the family businesses.

2021

DAKL begins acquiring at Stones Corner, moving into high-rise residential development.

2025

DAKL buys the first of two Stanley Street properties in East Brisbane.

2026

The Stones Corner site is sold with approval in place. Work continues on East Brisbane.
